BioI'm a writer and an oceanographer...but I don't write about oceanography! My first novel, Climbing the Stairs, will be published by Putnam (an imprint of Penguin) in May 2008 - less than too months from now! It's about a young girl's struggle for personal freedom and it plays out against the backdrop of WWII and the Indian nonviolent independence movement led by Gandhi.
